Is a Custom Sherpa Blanket Your Personalized Choice?
Dec. 7th, 2024
Dotex is a sherpa blanket manufacturer that works from its own production floor rather than through a trading desk. We knit, dye and sew inside one system, so a custom sherpa blanket reaches you at the specification you approved, inside the delivery window you planned for, and with documentation your customers and auditors will accept. Custom designs, selected materials and controlled craftsmanship turn every order into a reliable branded product rather than a commodity.
A custom sherpa blanket is made from warm, durable sherpa fabric built to your specification. It lets brand owners, importers and distributors apply their branding, logos or custom artwork to create a promotional or retail item that delivers both warmth and brand recognition. The same construction suits promotional programmes, private-label ranges and hospitality.
Sherpa, flannel and polar fleece are all common blanket fabrics. Which one you pick comes down to what you are using it for, the season and the price.
| Sherpa | Flannel | Polar fleece | |
Hand feel | Thick, textured pile | Smooth brushed surface, flatter and lighter | Light even knit, slightly springy |
| Typical weight | 180-280gsm | 180-500gsm | 150-350gsm |
Warmth for weight | High | Medium | Medium |
Typical channels | Gift and promotional programmes, home ranges | Bedding sets, home ranges | Volume retail, travel and outdoor ranges |
Decoration fit | Embroidery, appliqué, screen print | Sublimation, screen print | Sublimation, screen print, embroidery |
Main complaint risk | Shedding, pilling | Pilling after repeated washing, fading | Static |
Warm-weather e-commerce and travel ranges usually favour polar fleece on cost, weight and printability. Gift and promotional programmes favour sherpa, because the pile photographs well and holds embroidery. Home and bedding ranges favour flannel for its smooth, flat finish at a lower weight.
Why Work With Our Sherpa Blanket Factory
A professional buyer evaluates an order differently from a shopper. Below is what we control, and what we can document for you.
Personalized comfort. Every blanket is built to the specification you approve: finished size, colour reference, fabric weight (GSM), pile height, backing, edge finish and decoration position. We quote and sample against a specification sheet, which is what keeps bulk production aligned with the sample you signed off.
Premium materials. We select yarns and sherpa fabric to suit the end use, the target market and the price band. Where a recycled option is required, recycled polyester constructions are covered by our GRS scope certificate, and each shipment can be supported by a transaction certificate that links recycled content to your order.
Versatile design. Sherpa blankets serve as sofa throws, bed blankets, travel and picnic blankets, and as corporate, hospitality and aviation comfort items. The same construction can be configured as a gift-box programme or as a private-label retail range with printed packaging.
Easy care. Our sherpa blankets are machine washable and dryable, which matters in a supply programme because the care wording on the label has to match how the product actually behaves. Tell us the wash standard your channel requires and we will specify the construction and the decoration process to meet it.

Quality control. Every blanket is inspected, from stitch quality to the accuracy and position of the applied design. For programme orders an AQL inspection plan is agreed in the purchase order: inspection level, sample size, accept and reject criteria, and who performs the inspection. Defects are recorded against a written standard, with photographs, rather than an opinion.
Eco-friendly choices. We offer eco-friendly options such as recycled polyester, and we publish our certificates with their identifiers so you can verify each one at the issuing body: GRS for recycled content, OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 for harmful substances, and a social audit for working conditions.
Direct factory supply. We run our own sherpa blanket factory with a vertical chain from knitting and weaving through dyeing to sewing. Fabric, colour, GSM and decoration are therefore controlled inside one system, which is what makes both OEM and ODM practical.
MOQ, sampling and lead time. Minimum order quantity depends on fabric, decoration setup and packaging, so it is confirmed per project rather than published as one number. Decorations that require tooling, such as embroidery, screen printing and appliqué, carry a higher minimum than a plain blanket, because setup cost is spread across the run. Tell us your target quantity and we will confirm the minimum, the sampling stages (strike-off or lab dip, proto sample, pre-production sample, golden sample) and a lead time split into three clocks: sampling, bulk production after approval and deposit, and transit.
Proven in the channels we already supply. As a sherpa blanket supplier we already ship to retail own-brand programmes, airlines, hospitality groups and promotional distributors, which means your order is built to the same inspection and documentation standards those channels require.
Customization Options of a Custom Sherpa Blanket
The items below are what a programme order can specify. Anything not listed here can be written into the specification sheet and quoted the same way.
Sizes. Standard sizes include 50 × 60 inches and 60 × 80 inches, and we produce custom sizes to your specification. Please state the finished size with its tolerance, together with the quantity split across sizes and colours.
Colors. We offer a range of colours to choose from and can match custom colours to your reference. Approve the colour on a reference you can check, such as a Pantone number or a lab dip on the actual fabric, rather than a screen image.
Pattern design. Sublimation printing suits photographic and multi-colour artwork on polyester faces; rotary screen printing suits large-volume, simpler multi-colour designs; flat screen printing suits medium-volume designs that need tighter registration. A range of pre-designed patterns is also available. Deep pile can soften fine detail, so a strike-off on the actual fabric is approved before bulk.
Woven labels. Personalize your sherpa blanket with a custom woven label carrying your brand name, logo or a specific message, plus any licence, origin or recycled-content information your market requires. Label text and artwork are version-controlled and approved in writing before production starts.
Packaging. We offer packaging that ranges from a simple poly bag to compression packing, a retail carton or a luxury gift box, to fit your brand image and your channel.
Tags. You can add custom tags to carry branding and information, such as care instructions, a unique ID or other relevant details. Care wording has to match the tested behaviour of the finished product, so the wash standard you require should be stated in the specification from the start.
OEM and ODM. We work both ways. For OEM, send your sample or a complete specification sheet and we build to it as your sherpa blanket manufacturer. For ODM, send your target market, price band and reference images, and we will propose the fabric, construction and decoration that fit before quoting.
Testing. Ask for data on the finished blanket, not on a piece of greige fabric. Backing and decoration both move the result. The usual set is pilling resistance (ASTM D4970), colourfastness to washing (AATCC 61 / ISO 105) and dimensional stability (AATCC 135), plus whatever flammability rule your destination applies. Agree up front which tests must come from a third-party lab and who pays for them.
How to get a quote from our sherpa blanket factory. To receive a costed production plan in one round, send: finished size with quantity split by size and colour; fabric and GSM target; decoration type, artwork file and position; colour reference; label, care and packaging specification (retail pack and master carton); destination market and compliance requirements; delivery window; target price band; destination port and trade term such as FOB, EXW or CIF; and payment method with settlement currency.

Choosing a Sherpa Blanket Supplier: FAQ
Are you a sherpa blanket manufacturer or a trading company?
We are a manufacturer. Our sherpa blanket factory runs the full chain from knitting and weaving through dyeing to sewing, so fabric, colour, GSM and decoration are controlled inside one system instead of being bought in from several vendors.
What is the minimum order quantity for a custom sherpa blanket?
Minimum order quantity depends on fabric, decoration setup and packaging, so it is confirmed per project rather than published as one number. Decorations that require tooling, such as embroidery, screen printing and appliqué, carry a higher minimum than a plain blanket because the setup cost is spread across the run.
Can your sherpa blanket factory produce recycled sherpa blankets?
Yes. Recycled polyester constructions are covered by our GRS scope certificate, and each shipment can be supported by a transaction certificate that links recycled content to your order.
How do I compare sherpa blanket suppliers before placing an order?
Ask three things in writing: whether the supplier owns the production floor or resells, which tests are run on the finished blanket rather than on greige fabric, and whether every certificate can be verified at the issuing body. A sherpa blanket supplier that will not answer these in writing is a risk on a programme order.
Do you work as an OEM sherpa blanket manufacturer and on ODM projects?
Yes, both. For OEM, send your sample or a complete specification sheet and we build to it. For ODM, send your target market, price band and reference images, and we propose the fabric, construction and decoration that fit before quoting.
How long do sampling and bulk production take?
Lead time is split into three clocks: sampling, bulk production after approval and deposit, and transit.
Send your specification to our team and we will confirm the fabric, the MOQ, the sampling stages and the delivery schedule in one round.
